This match was played on a heavy pitch severely affected players from both teams.
This Quarter Final saw the winners avoid both potential favourites Chelsea Ladies Reserves & Crystal Palace Ladies (Who meet in the Semi final), and have a much easier task playing either Molesey Ladies or Fulham Compton Ladies (match postponed – so opponents to be decided)
The heavy conditions and several dubious offside decisions (from home assistant) led to increasing frustration.
Players from both teams were slipping & sliding continuously and play was stunted by this.
Half Time 0-0
The 2nd half continued in the same vein.
Tony Milstead (AFC Wimbledon Manager) made a double substitution in the 68th minute with Emily Pratley-Jones & Mel Baroni replacing Charlie Powell & Emma Treanor.
In the 71st minute Jodie Fernandes was carded for a rash sliding challenge soon followed by a similar for one of the home team players for similar challenge.
Play continued to be stunted by the conditions.
As the tie looked to be heading towards extra time Jodie Fernandes broke through a tackle and went towards the goalline on the right side of the box and crossed into the bow where Chanel Richards bundled the ball into the back of the net. With the Home Assistant frantically waving for an offside decision referee Tristan Greaves ignored his protestations and gave the Goal. This was the 90th minute and the referee indicated that there was to be 3 minutes of stoppage time, but the Wombles held out for a win.
