Match report

AFC WIMBLEDON U14 7 - DORKING BOYS 1

Finally a match that was played in wet and windy conditions meant that the AFCW lads could get the ball down and zip it around of the surface.

Although Dorking Boys put up an early fight causing a couple of problems with crosses, the pace of the AFCW attacks was so swift that they finally had to crack. Dorking kept AFCW at bay until the 16th minute when Sam Manzambi latched on to a through ball and calmly took it around the keeper and slotted home. Once we had scored the first the game turned to one way traffic. James Bailey added a second after 25 minutes with a delightful lob from the edge of the box. And just before half time was the goal of the game from Declan Connery. He picked up the ball from 30 yards and just released a pile driver that smashed the underside of the bar, hit the line and bounced back up into the roof of the net.

After half time we kept up the pace for ten minutes. Sam Manzambi added his second with a tap in after good work from Dan Allen. Aaron Reid made it 5-0 with a wonderful dribble and finished with a chip over the on-rushing keeper. Then we took our foot off the gas for about 15 minutes and let Dorking have time on the ball. They scored with a header after players were left unmarked in the box, but that woke AFCW up and once again Sam Manzambi scored a hat trick when he easily tucked the ball in when sent through. And in the dying minutes Aaron Reid got his second and AFCW's seventh when he carried the ball from our own half and pushed the ball into the bottom corner. Special mentions today for Dan Allen and Daniel Sintim who were calm and rock solid through out.
