Match report
AFC Wimbledon Ladies surely secured their London and South East Region Premier Division status with a 4-0 victory over bottom club Crowborough Athletic at Kingsmeadow Athletics Stadium.
The visitors hadn't picked up a point all season, but for the first hour it looked as though they might well do so as the Dons dominated the play without looking like scoring. The key moment of the match came on the hour when the visitors were reduced to 10 women as a second of their players went off injured and they only had one substitute. The Dons ruthlessly exploited their numerical advantage with four goals in 15 minutes. The opening goal came in the 68th minute with Kerry Knott and Laura Smith combining to allow Laura Topliss a shot that the keeper half-stopped but rolled agonisingly into the net. Two minutes later Smith was again the provider, her cross over the goalkeeper bundled in by Knott at the far post. Substitute Jodie Fernandes then scored two almost identical goals in the 79th and 81st minutes, turning in long crossfield balls from the left, before Smith was denied by the keeper only for Popovich to turn the rebound wide.
