A last minute goal from Luke Gambin sealed the points for AFC Wimbledon against Hampton & Richmond last night.
Games with Hampton are normally good, hard and close games, this proved no exception. With 14 of the 16 players first years this was always going to be a test for the young Dons.
The first half was a scrappy affair with AFC looking in control but never really creating too much in the way of chances. Hampton were restricted to counter attacking but the AFC defence looked pretty solid especially keeper Dadar who commanded his box and distributed the ball very well.

AFC did pick up their game in the second half and provided more crosses and better opportunities, what they lacked was a finishing touch as chances came and went. There were impressive games by Dadar in goal along with Dean McQueen at centre half. Subsitute Juevan Spencer who replaced Charlie Hamsher also looked sharp, proving to be a handfull for the Hampton defence. Bakhit replaced the injured Gondwe after 60 minutes and with 15 minutes remaining AFC threw on an extra forward in Meshach Smith and took off defender Daniel Coveley. The game looked to be heading for a draw until the final minute when good hold up play from Juevan Spencer was rewarded as he found Jordan Hutchinson on the right flank, his low hard cross was missed by Danny Carter but Gambin was on hand at the far post to fire the ball into the back of the net.
