Match report

The youngsters gave a spirited display last night but came up short against a strong, well organised and direct Woking side.
The game started at a furious pace with Woking seeking to hit their tall strikers early and putting the youngsters under pressure.
It took some time for us to get the ball down and to play our passing game but gradually we asserted ourselves and created some good chances. Jeuvan Spencer went close from a header following some good work down the right and following a determined run by Wilson Gondwe, Joe Jackson just failed to connect as the ball zipped across the six yard box.The defence was generally coping well with the arieal threat from Woking with set pieces likely to be their main danger. With 10 mins to go in the first half following some good build up play Joe Jackson narrowly went wide with a snap shot.

As the first half drew to a close a corner was awarded to Woking and the youngsters 'switched off' and with a corner swung in from the left over to the back post were it was headed back across goal where Chris Richards nipped in to give the hosts the lead.

The second half started with us continuing to try to play but Woking seemed content to contain us and hit us on the break. It was in the final third that the youngsters were struggling to maintain their quality and too often attacks broke down.Wilson Gondwe was replaced after 60 mins by Callum Dunne with the hard working Danny Carter switching wide and he nearly got the equaliser following a cross from Jordan Hutchinson which Danny just headed over after a great far post run. With the clock on Jeuvan Spenser was replaced by Sami Bahkit on 75 mins with Jordan Hutchinson moving upfront. The pace of the attack was causing problems for the hosts and Jordan was brought down when breaking down the left with the left back being booked.

A final throw of the dice saw Ryan Thomas brought on for Jamie Warren in the 80 min as we went three at the back to get something from the game. Despite the lads best efforts they could not fashion that all important chance to get the equaliser that their hard work had deserved and Woking held on to take the points.
