Match report
A superb volley from Kate Walker capped a memorable fightback for AFC Wimbledon Ladies on Sunday.
Just a day after Wimbledon’s men came from 3-1 down to snatch a point at Crewe Alexandra, the ladies also came from two goals down as they fought back to earn a 2-2 draw.
The visitors fell behind after just six minutes when Hemel’s Suzanne Read lobbed Wimbledon goalkeeper Leanne Knopp and the same player double the advantage just after the half hour.
That stirred Wimbledon into action though and they halved the deficit three minutes before half-time when Charlie Powell was fouled in the area and Kerry Knott made no mistake with the subsequent penalty.
Wimbledon drew encouragement from that during the half-time break and they were level just 75 seconds after the restart when Walker fired home in style from the edge of the box.
That was the signal for Wimbledon to press for the winner, but Stacie Tull, Jodie Fernandes and Walker all missed chances to earn all three points.
