AFC Wimbledon
Match report
In a very tight game, AFC created the better chances, defended superbly and overcame some dubious refereeing decisions not for the first time this season. Credit the boys, they went into the game with the need of a point and deservedly claimed all 3. They took the lead when Wellman powered down the left and picked out Borg who headed home superbly. Chances were not many but we created the better ones and in the 2nd half for the first time this season we defended superbly as Cheam had the advantage of the slope and pumped long balls at us that we dealt with creditably. Hopefully the lessons of a long season have finally been learnt?
"The Cat" Patel: One great save at 0-0 and again did the basics wonderfully well.
Widget Hennessy: Knocked some good balls and went through the pain barrier. When in defence, concentrate on your line.
Nathan Adams: Looked the part, great touch, commitment and concentration.
Toby Couch: Superb. When calling the line, make sure it stays together. You have to make sure that people listen, not hope!
Fabion Grosvenor: Best game for us yet, concentration is the key to your game and tonight you were on it. Help Toby with the line.
Jason Sarapong: Tireless in midfield and another solid display. Work back a little deeper when the ball is in defence.
Max Oakley: Havent been yourself in training lately and were not on your game in the 1st half. Its been a long season, you have been a credit to us, raise yourself for the last game, one last push!
Jamie Parker: The special things in a game come from you aplenty, in a game like tonights it is all about working the basics, try to do more of the boring stuff and you will be a more complete player.
Simon Borg: Cant fault you on this performance and another important goal. Did plenty of the horrible stuff that needed to be done.
Reece Wellman: Another who has been off in training recently, remember 1/2 your effort will you see you realising 1/2 of your potential. Raised your game when asked to, why must I ask?
Jon Fagan: Not your best but not fully fit.
Stuart Dunk: Good effort and work rate etc, did well in an unfamiliar position without any complaints.
Hong Moon: Did all the basics really well and all that training has paid off, well done.
Boys, well done, your conduct and commitment to the club is a credit to yourselves, your parents and Steve and Mark. Thank You.
