The Dons cruised through to the last 16 of the Surrey Cup with a convincing win over Hamsey Rangers B of the Tandridge League.
The Dons had the perfect start with 2 early goals from Glorie Wala and Daniel Pain. After this the Dons sat back and let the opposition back into the game, but a penalty just before half time, converted by Daniel Pain after a deliberate hand ball meant that the Dons took a 3-0 lead into the break.
The second half started brightly for the home team and after 5 mins Charlie Craig sent a beautifully floated shot into the top left hand corner. Rhys Watson converted the 5th after some excellent work up to the by-line from Daniel Pain. The 6th followed 10 minutes later with a great volley at close range from Rhys. The 7th came on 57 minutes, Rhys bagging his hat-trick after a powerful Bobby Dormer drive was parried by the Hamsey keeper.
Hamsey got a goal back from a dubious penalty after Bobby Dormer had appeared to make a superbly clean tackle on the Hamsey number 9. Order was restored a minute later when Daniel Pain ran nearly the full length of the pitch cutting inside and sending a rasping shot into the top left hand corner at an acute angle. It was the goal of the game and capped a deserved hat-trick for the striker.
Dons entertain Guildford Saints Boys FC on the 15th January in the 4th Round.
