Match report

Emma Whymark crashed home the Ladies consolation goal.Reading Royals recorded a comfortable 3-1 victory over lacklustre AFC Wimbledon at wet and windy Kingsmeadow.

The visitors dominated the first half with Emma Whymark clearing a Tomkins shot off the line and Lou Cooper making two good saves before Tomkins opened the scoring in the 19th minute, converting a Perks cross. Julie Bygrave headed a Kirsty Percival free kick over the bar in a rare Dons attack.

After the interval the Dons had a good 15 minute spell with Bygrave volleying just wide and Keisha Ramos shooting over an open goal. The Dons were still in the game as Tomkins miscued a good chance horribly wide, but atoned in the 73rd minute with a superb 25-yard shot that flew past Cooper. Nine minutes later Rose set up Tomkins to complete her hat-trick, and in a late Dons flurry Percival's corner flew just wide off Laura Smith and Whymark netted a consolation goal in the 7th minute of injury time, firing home a low free kick after a Reading player had been harshly penalised for handball.
