AFC WIMBLEDON LADIES 3 BRISTOL CITY LADIES 4
Wimbledon and Bristol City tucked in to seven goals between them, but City enjoyed the lion's share, claiming a 4-3 win.
Charlotte King gave the visitors the lead in the 20th minute with a neat flick over Tracey Perry, but Michelle Riley equalised four minutes later. Almost from the restart Angie Tinson coolly rounded the keeper to make it 2-1, but Amy Price scored her first competitive goal to draw the Dons level again.
City stepped up the pace in the second half, and went ahead again ten minutes in when Perry could only beat out a King's long-range shot into the path of Katy Little. With fifteen minutes to go City looked to have sealed the points with a fierce drive in off the crossbar from Tinson, but Dons pulled one back through Maria Bertelli and both Beth Sims and Price had chance to equalise in the last couple of minutes, but it was not to be.
Wimbledon manager Graham Newham felt the Robins deserved their win, but rued the missed one-on-ones with the goalkeeper late on. He said: "We had a couple of chances in injury time which we could have put away but unfortunately our strikers were off target.
"Overall Bristol City probably just edged it but it would have been nice to get a point at the end. City are a very organised team and they're very quick on the break. I think we just need one win and we'll be back on track because the confidence is still there."
City boss Jack Edgar felt his side struggled to keep their rhythm after scoring the first goal. He said: "We always looked like we were going to win it but we made heavy weather of it."
