Sunday 28 January 2007 West Surrey Youth League U11 Cup
It was the first meeting of these two teams this season and a highly competitive match unfolded. Wimbledon were awarded a penalty after 27 minutes and George Martin fired the Dons into the lead. However the lead didn?t last long when on the stroke of half time Tooting were awarded a penalty, from which they scored to go in level at half time.
Wimbledon tried to find a way through the Tooting defence but were thwarted on numerous occasions. Mid way through the second half Tooting were awarded a free kick and the ball found its way to the back of the net. The Wimbledon players were tiring and this wasn?t helped by the fact they only had a bare 11 eleven players available and so were unable to bring on fresh legs. This was the team?s first defeat in over 13 months and followed 29 straight victories.
