Match report

After an even first half AFC Wimbledon Ladies were overrun in the second as they slumped to a 5-1 defeat at Bugbrooke St. Michael's.

The Dons began brightly with Lisa Coughman finding Laura Topliss for a shot turned round the post, then Deena Rahman found Jade Delahuntry, whose low shot was diverted onto her own bar by Smith. However the home side went ahead in the 10th minute when poor concentration following a Dons goal kick allowed the ball to be played to the offside Gale, who cut inside and drove past Charlotte Nash. A Topliss shot was turned round the post and Nari Jung put a free header from Claire Malone's corner wide, Nash twice saved from Gallagher, then the Dons equalised in the 31st minute, good work by Rahman setting up Rebecca Yarnold for an excellent cross bundled home by Delahuntry. Rahman's low shot was turned round the post, then Northampton had some good chances but shot well wide.

After the break Jung had a lob just over, then Rahman beat 3 defenders in a good run that led to Delahuntry being denied by Milenkovic. The home side were gradually getting on top and after Nash had done well to push out a long shot, Porter put Northampton ahead in the 60th minute with a free kick that Nash could only push into the roof of the net. Faye Ludlow made a great interception to save a goal and Nash twice made good saves, but Northampton went further ahead in thhe 75th minute when Gallacchi's lob struck the Dons bar only for the offside Gale to bundle the rebound home. Four minutes later Gale completed her hat-trick with a firm header from Holland's cross, and the scoring was completed in injury time when Holland handled the ball and lobbed over Nash from 25 yards.

Nash, Ludlow, Coughman, Duggan, Alderton, Jung, Malone, Rahman (Price 79), Delahuntry (Roberts 91), Topliss, Yarnold (Duffin 59).
