Match report
After an encouraging first half AFC Wimbledon Ladies again finished with 9 players as they went down 7-0 at Whitton United.
Blake opened the scoring in the 9th minute with a free header from a corner. Charlotte Nash then saved from Warnes and Peacock before an excellent Roxanne Bennett tackle dispossessed Warnes in the area. The Dons almost equalised in the 31st minute, Bennett's free kick finding Deena Rahman to volley inches over the bar. Rex put a header wide as the Dons reached the interval a goal behind.
Unfortunately the injured Amy Price was unable to start the second half, and the 10 women were soon on the back foot. Blake bundled home a Warnes cross in the 47th minute and, after Nash had brilliantly tipped a Peacock free kick round the post, Ipswich made it 3-0 when a free kick was blocked and in the resulting scramble the ball wasn't cleared allowing Stephens to volley home. Soon after Alderton was sent off in an off the ball incident and the match became totally one way traffic. Ipswich duly scored four late goals, Allum volleying home in the 69th minute, Turner curling home a shot in the 75th minute, followed by two long range efforts in the 87th minute and 93rd minute by Smith and Gordon past the injured Nash, who had suffered some unnecessarily heavy Ipswich challenges. Despite this Nash made four fine saves in the closing 20 minutes to keep the score down.
