Tooting & Mitcham United Reserves
Match report
On 6 December the Dons entertained Tooting & Mitcham in the Third Round of the Suburban League Cup.
The Dons made a strong start as Yee forced a good save from the Tooting keeper, but Huggins was first to react and squeezed the ball home from a tight angle. Yee added a second soon after, when he calmly rounded a defender and the keeper to make it 2-0 inside ten minutes. On 25 minutes, fluent passing carved the visitors' defence apart and released Townsend into the box, who was upended as he was about to shoot. The twice-taken penalty was dispatched by Taylor. Tooting pulled one back to make it 3-1 at half time.
Early second half pressure from the visitors met with strong resistance by the Dons backline, who rarely looked troubled. Huggins added his second against the club that released him, following a superb run and cut back from Bamfo. Towse went off injured, necessitating a reshuffle with Farquharson coming on and Joe Hill moving to left back, but Wimbledon defended well to secure a convincing 4-1 victory.
