Match report

The Dons had to travel to Uxbridge to play a double header against Hayes Youth. This involved playing four 25-minute halves with the first two counting as one game and the next two as the other game.

Wimbledon started brightly enough and forced an early corner. George Martin took the corner and scored directly from it. The pitch conditions were not good; the ball bobbled off the surface every time it bounced and it was difficult for the Dons’ to play their normal passing game. Wimbledon were winning the midfield battles but unable to convert their chances. Against the run of play Hayes grabbed an equaliser with a well-taken goal just before half time.

Again Wimbledon started the second half very quickly and from a pass from Stuart Haughton, Terry Carlin beat two defenders and fired the Dons back into the lead. Terry scored his second just minutes later when he broke free from the half way line and powered down on the Hayes goal and beat the advancing keeper to put the ball in the back of the net. Terry then completed his hat-trick when his goal bound shot was deflected in off a Hayes defender.
