Ten men AFC Wimbledon cruised to victory in this Ryman League fixture at Walton & Hersham's Stompond Lane ground last night.
Walton who in the last two games have beaten Tooting 4 - 0 and Hampton away 2 - 0 looked to avenge the home 2 - 0 defeat earlier in the season.
The game got off to the worst possible start for AFC Wimbledon as debutant Jack Turner in goal was sent off after 18 seconds as he unfortunately handled outside his area. This led to subsitute Tom Gibson taking the gloves and Jake Hill having to make way for him. AFC were still determined to win the game and went three at the back, four in midfield and the same two up front. Instead of demoralising the AFC team it seemed to make them more focussed and they dominated the first half playing some delightful football. Ollie Killick had an early chance he failed to score with but made amends when he opened the scoring with a fine turn and finish. Walton had a good chance to level late in the half but a fine save by Tom Gibson thwarted the home side with Charlie Clark-Gleave on hand to clear the rebound.
Half Time 0 - 1
In the second half AFC continued to press with both Rapson and Killick up front working their socks off and causing the home defence problems. The back three of Callum Wellburn, Charlie Clark-Gleave were superb in defence and with Tom Gibson in goal never looked like conceeding. The midfield four worked tirelessly on a big pitch with wide players Jordan Hutchinson and James Stenning a constant threat. Centrally Harry Knock and Billy Manning worked at supporting the forwards and the defence, both were outstanding.
Killick grabbed AFC's second goal when he played in Billy Manning whose shot was too fierce for the home custodian to hold, Killick was on hand to tap in the rebound. Killick got his hat trick after 65 minutes as Jordan Hutchinson jinked down the right side beating two defenders and crossing for Killick to cheekily back heel into the corner of the net.
Tollady replaced the tiring Killick and Keen replaced Rapson as AFC saw the game through.
Overall considering the early sending off AFC dominated this game and played some of the best football they have played all season. As a team it was an excellent all round performance and another deserved three points.
