Thursday 02 April 2009 Ryman Youth League, North East Division
The Young Dons did the double over their local rivals Kinstonian last night with a 3 - 1 victory.
The first half was a tough encounter against a big physical side. The robustness of Ks seem to knock AFCs passing game and they failed to get the ball down and play in the first half. First blood came Kingstonians way as they opened the scoring. AFC hit back as Rapson was denied a chance when a Ks defender handled in the penalty area. Billy Manning made no mistake from the spot kick to level up the scores.
Half Time 1 - 1
A much improved second half saw AFC perform to a higher standard. After 52 minutes AFC went ahead when top scorer Rapson got on the end of a left sided cross from James Stenning. After 61 minutes the game was over as a cross-shot from Ollie Killick found James Stenning who tapped in at the far post.
Tom Gibson in goal made some fine saves and young Jack Williamson at right back had another fine game. Injuries to Callum Wellburn, Jake Hill and Pete Rapson in the last 20 minutes saw them replaced by Dan Coveley, Jack Stafford and Charlie Hamsher respectively.
