The Dons suffered their first League defeat for nine weeks when they were well beaten 3 -1 against Epsom and Ewell.
The signs looked good when Earp put the Dons ahead after 34 minutes, as he controlled Townsend's low cross and shot coolly past the keeper. But a lack of communication between Merry and During just on half time let in Pritchard to shoot into an unguarded net from an acute angle.
In the second half, the Dons' defence was twice caught out and Pritchard and Ramjohn were both left with clear headers to put the home side clear. The action at the end of the game centred on the eccentric referee, who had played centre stage for a lot of the game. First he dismissed manager Dave Wager from the bench, who had taken exception to a number of dangerous tackles on his players that had gone unpunished, and then sent off Trefry and cautioned Ward and Earp in the space of 30 seconds.
