Crystal Palace Ladies
Match report
Crystal Palace Ladies skilfully exploited their one woman advantage to score three late goals and earn a convincing 5-1 victory at Kingsmeadow.
The Dons began brightly with Laura Smith's cross pushed out by Akabyeze for Vicky Elcome to have a low shot cleared off the line, then Loiuse Cooper turned a Stanghon shot wide. Keisha Ramos went down under a strong challenge only for nothing to be given, then the Dons went ahead in the 16th minute when Elcome's free kick was not cleared and Michelle Riley forced the ball home. The dangerous Osuji then shot into the side netting, and the Dons didn't learn from their escape when the same player outpaced the Dons defence to equalise in the 27th minute. Osuji then turned provider ten minutes later when her shot was parried by Cooper, Rachel Axon tried to pass the ball off the goalline allowing Dunmall to charge down her clearance and cross for Constable to score. Barette blocked a Stanghon shot as Palace ended the half on top.
After the interval Cooper again saved from Osuji allowing Axon to hack the ball clear, but any chance of a Dons revival ended when Axon was injured by an Osuji challenge and carried off and her replacement Jo Goodwin was almost immediately sent off for saying something to the referee. Crystal Palace then started to play really well in the last 15 minutes scoring three goals from Sharp, Stanghon and Constable, before Maria Bertelli rattled the underside of the Palace bar with a fierce shot and Beth Sims had a low shot turned round the post.
