Match report
AFC WIMBLEDON LADIES 3 IPSWICH TOWN LADIES 1
The Dons went ahead after only 29 seconds, Jemma Lindfield playing a 1-2 with Carly Hunt before curling a delightful lob over Fay Lunn. Beth Sims and Carly Hunt then combined to allow Keisha Ramos a shot parried by Lunn, then at the other end a dreadful header across the face of goal found Helen Bass, who was bravely denied by Lou Cooper. AFC Wimbledon went further ahead in the 41st minute, Lindfield crossing from the left for Gemma Hunt to set up Sims for a shot that bounced over Lunn's outstretched arm.
Wimbledon began the second half brightly, with Sims crossing for Gemma Hunt to have a shot parried, but the Dons became increasingly casual, resulting in Ipswich pulling a goal back on the hour when a defensive mix-up presented the ball to Bass, who skilfully lobbed Cooper. Carly Hunt's free kick was punched out to Michelle Riley, whose shot was blocked on the line, but the growing Wimbledon nerves were settled in the 77th minute when an excellent Julie Bygrave cross picked out Danielle Rebelo, who controlled the ball and fired past Lunn. There was still time for a good move involving Ramos, Julie Bygrave and Rebelo, ending with a low shot from the latter that was well held by Lunn.
