AFC Wimbledon Ladies moved into the top half of the table with an ultimately comfortable victory at Bent Lane.
The Dons went ahead in the 3rd minute, good work by Gemma Hunt setting up Carly Hunt for a firm drive past Lunn. Vicky Elcome made at excellent saving tackle before Laura Smith shot straight at the keeper and Gemma Hunt turned a cross into the side netting. Wimbledon extended their advantage in the 29th minute, Gemma Hunt being tripped and Maria Bertelli stroking home the penalty. Lou Cooper palmed out a Harwood shot, Howlett sidefooted wide and Bass shot at Cooper in a good Ipswich spell, then just before the break Michelle Riley's cross found the unmarked Gemma Hunt, but Lunn reacted well to block the shot.
With the wind against them in the second half, Wimbledon needed a strong start and good work by Gemma Hunt, Smith and Sims set up Carly Hunt to drill a beautiful volley into the top corner. Soon after a dreadful Howlett backpass allowed Gemma Hunt to pass the ball into the bottom corner to make it 4-0 in the 54th minute. Smith cannoned a drive against the bar, then Elcome's corner was headed home by Riley, shortly followed by a thunderous low shot from Lizzie Laws that the aggressive Culley could only slice past her own keeper. Julie Bygrave was twice denied by Lunn but was rewarded for her persistence in the last minute as Lunn totally missed an excellent Elcome cross for Bygrave to head home number seven.
