Match report
The Dons were forced to play this home fixture at Weston Green on a sub standard pitch that was more conducive to rugby or tug-o-war rather than the beautiful game. With this in mind another win and a clean sheet for the Dons. Wimbledon dominated the game from start to finish. Staines held out till the 25th minute when the ball was layed off to Joel Fontana, who struck a curling shot into the top right corner from 25 yards for a glorious opener. Fifteen minutes into the second half a Stevie Gilbert cross into the box found Peter Hames who lashed home from six yards giving the keeper no chance, to put the Dons into a comfortable lead. With the game nearing its end, good work between Joe Dixon and Charlie Herrington ended with a finger tip save by the keeper from Herrington to keep the score respectable in Staines favour and one which didn't reflect the dominance of the game. On a day when the team had to overcome a poor pitch there were good battling displays from Gilbert and Jason Chapman.
