Away to Bristol City on a lovely sunny day seems a bit harsh. But the journey was good and I have to say so was the ground, a credit to Bristol. So now the game... Bristol only needed a score draw to win the league and they certainly came out fighting. For the first 10 minutes we were under the cosh but that's our way, we soak up and then kick into gear. With chances only on the occasional break away there was not much in it. Then a thru ball to Michelle Storier and a goalkeeper fumble, we thought the ice was broken, but the keeper grabs both her legs and Michelle goes down. Everybody shouts penalty but not the Ref! Bristol came close with a few over the top balls but the back line had them in the bag. With the play mostly back and forth it was hard to see anybody scoring but when we did put the ball on the ground we looked good. With another attach and Bristol frantic on the back foot, the ball was badly cleared out to the edge of the area and a fantastic volley by Lisa Patey ad goal written all over it, but the keeper managed to push it onto the bar. First half over and no changes to positions we were the second half team. Bristol still resorted to the over the top ball but once again Vicky Elcome was in good form, as was a strong Danny Davies and a very determined Sarah Pearce. Midfield was Dominated by Lisa Patey and Amy Price, who sustained two nose bleeds but that didn't stop her. We had 3 or 4 more chances and when Michelle Storrier shot a low one to the bottom corner in the 70th minute we all jumped up, but another great save from he keeper. With Bristol throwing everything at us and using all their subs, our fitness showed and we finished the stronger side, 0-0 a fair result? I think we should have won but that's football for you.
