Sunday 11 December 2005 West Surrey Youth League U10 Premier Elite
This was a rerun of the previous week?s Inter League Cup encounter but unfortunately the result was not. Wimbledon continued to play neat, attractive football and moved the ball almost effortlessly around the pitch but the final pass or shot failed to find the target. Also, having conceded seven in the cup encounter, Tolworth were in no mood to concede that many goals again and packed their defence. Wimbledon controlled the half and were frustrated to reach half time without scoring, whereas Tolworth were very happy to get to the break level.
The second half continued in the same vein and it was a shock when from their first attack of the half Tolworth grabbed the lead from a goalmouth scramble. The Dons tried their hardest to get something from the game but to no avail, as the ball would not cross the line. On one occasion it even came off the backside of a defender on the line to foil the Dons attack. This was just one game when the football gods were not on Wimbledon?s side!
