Match report

The Dons looked a little rusty at the beginning of this must win game and needed maximum points to give them any chance of staying in the race for the league title. Tooting?s first real attack of the game came from a free kick, which was deftly tipped over by keeper, Jordan Knight. Wimbledon were then awarded a free kick themselves in a dangerous area and Reece Hannigan?s shot beat the keeper but hit the crossbar. On 18 minutes Tooting took the lead from a corner but Wimbledon were level by half time when the keeper couldn?t hold a powerful drive from Sam Toms and Brad Sexton tapped in the rebound.

In the second half Wimbledon tried to up the pressure and got their reward after 35 minutes, when a pass from the right found Callum Glavey who squared the ball for George Martin, who hit it first time and it flew into the back of the net. Tooting resorted to long ?hit and hope? balls but couldn?t find a way back into the game. This was not the best game Wimbledon have played this season but they ground out the result.

Man of the Match ? Eddie Mason
