Match report
In their first home game of the season, Wimbledon hosted local rivals Kingstonian for an exciting and fast paced game.
Kingstonian used their speed and a long-ball game in an attempt to catch out the Wimbledon defence throughout the game. Wimbledon countered this by using their strength and physical presence in midfield to keep the game under control.
Shannon Lindo made many deep runs which eventually bore fruit in the 10th minute with a driving shot from the edge of the box to put Wimbledon 1-0 in front.
With many other excellent periods of play, Wimbledon were unfortunately unable to capitalise on their superiority in the first half, despite hitting the post, and having many shots on goal saved.

Kingstonians started the second half with renewed vigour, coming close in the second minute and only a goal line clearance kept Wimbledon in front.
The second half was truely 'end to end' football, with Kingstonian attacking on the break, and only th excellent goalkeeping of Sam Saddington kept Wimbledon in front. Shannon Lindo continued to use her speed and ability on the ball to worry the Kingstonian defence, with her long runs and curling shots putting Kingstonian under increasing pressure. Her work paid dividends in the 30th minute when a second goal sealed the game for Wimbledon and their first win of the season.
