Match report
A well-struck hat trick from Ryan Luffman led the reserves to an easy victory against Guildford and Godalming.
The Dons went ahead on ten minutes when Quinn fed Wilson down the left. His through ball cleared the defence and Luffman, running through unchallenged, lobbed the advancing keeper. Falana's low cross from the right was met by Ward who sidefooted in from close range to put the Dons 2 - 0 up after only 20 minutes. Several minutes later, Quinn suffered a recurrence of his leg injury and left the pitch to be replaced by the returning Towse. Wimbledon continued to control the game and on
the half hour mark Hodge controlled Ward's long punt over the top and ran on into the penalty area before slipping the ball just inside the far post. A fourth came after 40 minutes when Towse skipped past two defenders and laid the ball into Luffman's path, who drove it past the helpless goalkeeper.
In the second-half, Samaha replaced the injured Wilson. Halfway through the half and against the run of play the home team pulled one back. A quickly taken free kick from their own half evaded the Dons' defence and Courtney, who had little to do all afternoon, was given no chance with the resulting shot. Shortly after, Bobby Jones came on for Lewis Taylor who had had a tough afternoon having been on the wrong end of a number of late tackles. The home goalkeeper continued to be the busiest man on the pitch as he made further saves from Falana on three occasions, and Luffman twice. Luffman achieved his hat-trick when he showed close control outside the area, before releasing an unstoppable shot into the top corner. There was still time for Falana to get the goal his hard work deserved when Towse's cross from the left fell invitingly at his feet and he shot in from close range.
