Match report
Walton & Hersham avenged their cup defeat of 2 weeks earlier as they defeated a predominantly young reserve side by a single goal.
From the kick off the home side pressed forward and after five minutes had hit both the post and bar. Soon after, Watts cleared off the line after Merry had miskicked and the woodwork again came to the Dons' defence as their offside trap was sprung and Merry was beaten by the forward's shot. As half time approached the Dons were having more of the game and Walton's goalkeeper made a one handed save from Huggins' close rang shot.
A good run up the right and cross from Taylor found Huggins whose header went wide. Ten minutes later, Merry came out of his area to clear but did not make good contact and, as the ball spun into the air, Walton's forward knocked it into the unguarded net. The Dons pressed for the equaliser but were denied when they hit the post with the goalkeeper beaten.
