Sunday 09 October 2005 West Surrey Youth League U14 Premier North
AFC were made to work hard for the points in this nine-goal thriller. It had looked like a comfortable victory was on the cards, as AFC raced into a two goal lead with-in the first 15 minutes, both goals coming from the in-form Daniel Kyprianou. The first from a Raphael Grant pass, and the second after an impressive display of passing football. Then it all went slightly pear shaped. Carshalton hit back with 3 quick goals to go in at half time 3-2 up.
AFC seemed to find their feet once more shortly after the restart ? Alan Matthews breaking down the left and supplying Raphael Grant with a pinpoint pass, which he finished with aplomb. The joy was short-lived however, as Carshalton responded in kind to take the lead once more.
AFC fought hard to find the equaliser, and were rewarded 5 minutes from time when Raphael Grant grabbed his second of the game, much to the relief of the supporters, as a defeat would have been a harsh result.
The win was sealed with barely 2 minutes left, Daniel Kyprianou raced to the bye-line and cut the ball back into the path of the oncoming Alan Matthews, who fired it into the back of the net. AFC managed to hold out for the few remaining nervous minutes to take all three points.
