Match report

The league cup final was played on the smallest pitch the boys have played on all season. This did not suit AFC Wimbledon?s style of football and it took the boys a while to get the right distance on their passes. The game was played at a high tempo with both sides trying to find a way through two very solid defences. However, Wimbledon?s hard work paid off when Callum Glavey controlled a ball, turned and fired it into the back of the net on 14 minutes.

Wimbledon knew that to have any chance of winning the cup they needed to extend their lead. With the second half just a few minutes old the Eagles keeper made a mistake with his clearance, which found George Martin who coolly slotted the ball into the goal. Epsom Eagles tried to find a consolation goal but the magnificent Wimbledon defence held firm. Wimbledon thoroughly deserved this cup victory and have now completed the second part of a possible treble.
