CHAMPIONS!!!!! The Dons went to Hampton needing two points from the remaining two games, to ensure the Premier elite league title. But Hampton needed just one point to avoid relegation!!! The game started with the Dons playing their usual fast asleep football, and gave Hampton the initiative, during the early exchanges. The only shot of any worthy note Came from the Dons brilliant midfielder Michael Kyere, who hit the bar. So at half time the Dons were struggling, but Hampton jubilant at 0-0.
Things soon changed with a great tactical switch within the Dons formation, Kyere crossed for Peter Hames to head home,within a minute from the restart.
Then normal service resumed with top goal scorer David Faiynor scoring yet another hatrick!!!
Keeper Rob Marsden never had a touch in the 2nd half, there were good performances from Captain Ed Bell, Godfrey Ayere, man of the match Lewis West, all in defence.
Elliott Mitchell, and Michael Kyere did really well in midfield.
It was a great achievement from the Dons to take the title away from the Youth squad, who as Cheam Town had totally dominated the West surrey premier elite for at least the past 5 seasons.
With one league game remaining v. Aldershot at Kingsmeadow sunday 7th May ko 2pm, and the county cup final v. Sutton utd. at Chipstead on sunday 14th May ko 2pm, it has been a fantastic for the Dons under 15's.
