Match report
League Cup Semi Final, at Merstham FC. the dons side neede some inspiration this week after last weeks embarresment of losing 3-0 to the youth side. the game started well for the dons, and slightly had the better of possession. it was an early substitution of Peter Hames who came on and deflected a clearance into the yout teams net. the youth had one or two one on ones with keeper Marsden but failed to hit the target. It was the dons who then increased their lead when Will Marlow powerfully headed home a corner. the dons then looked comfortable elading up to half time, but Tee Jay Ryan pulled one back from a near post volley again from a corner. the second half started with the yout team dominateing and were soon level when sonny russell thundered home after the dons failed to clear a ball well cut back by Troy Murray. Just prior to that the Dons had a goal disallowed from a well taken free kick from Ben Henery. it looked like extra time was approaching but another well taken free kick by Henery, dropped to David Fayinor, who fired home from close range. the youth had had their chances but again failed to convert a couple of one on ones. for the dons there were good performances from Elliot Mitchell, and Michael Kyere in the midfield. the final will now be on April 30th v. Hayes. venue unknown as yet.
