Match report

The Interleague cup final took place on a perfect spring evening, on a magnificent pitch, ideal for the Dons style of play. Wimbledon went on the attack from the start and quickly gained the upper hand. With only 4 minutes gone they were awarded a free kick, which was taken by Sam Toms and turned in by Reece Hannigan. Another free kick in a similar position six minutes later saw Sam Toms get his name on the score sheet. Wimbledon were now firmly in the driving seat and Kiran Khinda-John then scored the goal of the game with a screamer from distance.

Despite Epsom Eagles scoring what turned out to be only a consolation goal, after 30 minutes, Wimbledon added a fourth when a corner was floated in and Reece Hannigan headed home. Three minutes later but from the opposite corner Bradley Sexton also claimed a headed goal.

Wimbledon could and should have scored more goals and this final really showed how far the team has developed. This victory culminated in Wimbledon completing the treble and thus ensuring their place in history, by becoming the first team in 40 years to accomplish such a feat. An awesome achievement and one the whole team can be very proud of.
