Dons returned to action today in a much better shape. Cancelled games due to flooded pitches could not stop this team growing in confidence. Molesey, the league leaders came with a full strength squad. What a surprise they met. The Dons impressed in the first half and dominated possession. Liz Ebers struck the first goal for Dons. A crafted cross from a free-kick just outside Molesey 18 yard brought the goal we had waited so long for. Olivia Golder yet again on a set piece set the goal up. To be one goal up against the top of the league inspired the team.
Molesey equalised 4 mins later and at half time The Dons looked like they could cause a major upset.
Second half saw the Dons hold their nerve and at times it looked like a draw was on the cards. Moleseys second goal was a rebound off Dons goalkeeper Stephanie Cross who again sustained a slight back strain but battled on. A great goalie with the true Dons spirit in all our games. Molesey decided to release attacks down both sides and we held them well.
The third goal again was a sloppy mistake by our defence and we have learned to link up better by that. Both our subs were used Serena and Ellen for tactical and injuries reasons.
A real battle to the final whistle with AFC Girls getting stronger by the minute.
Possession, tactics, communication were much improved and Dons left our Home ground in the Borough of Merton unhappy to concede to Molesey.
