Guildford Saints 2 AFC Wimbledon 1.

Dons travelled away today and started well. Playing 4-3-3 again we applied pressure to Saints defence and got the first corner of the game. A low ball delivered from Holly Witts into the near post was deflected off the Saints left back to clear their lines. It was struck sweetly first time by Victoria Bailey and Dons were 0-1 up.
We dominated the first half and continued to probe Saints. In fairness we settled back and goal attempts were countered and Dons dominated. Dons went in at half time and made changes. Back to 4-4-2 to try and get more width. Maisie Bolt and Faye Pearson came on to change the attacks down the left flank. Dons stepped up a gear and made progress.
Saints fought back and equalised and a real battle began. Lack of width on the right due to missing squad players restricted our game.
Balls were sent over the top by Helen Hopcroft and Jenny Nunn to try and progress our link up play with midfield and attack.
Tactical switches to give us width and striker service came to late and Saints nicked a goal with minutes to go. We lacked progress on the right and midfield today but overall team effort and effort was excellent.
