1st Round League Cup KO 1.20pm
Not a good day at the office for Dons on the Cup Road.
In football somedays it rains or in this case you get hammered.
System 4-4-2.
First 12 minutes it was all Dons way.
The game looked to be going smoothly.
Concentration and effort evaporated quickly.
2 goals by Woking in 4 minutes and we were on the back foot. The bounce and
shape had gone.
They launched a 3 forward attack at us and kept lobbing the long ball to
pressure our back 4.
I switched to 5-3-2 to try and counter their attacks when the 4th goal went
in.
HT. Switch backed to 4-4-2 and demanded total effort and Dons to fight back
and close the Cougars down. It worked in that they scored only 2 more. I
cannot believe i am writing this.
Cougars had all possession 1st half. We bit the bullet and defeat was not
easy to swallow and we did fight back 2nd half. No subs for us. The cupboard
was empty. They had 5 subs and used them to good advantage.
Steph took a big knock to the knee 2nd half. They hit us with everything
they had.
Moral. Must and will do better. Lets draw on the positives we are much better
then this.
