Match report
AFC WIMBLEDON LADIES 2 BARNET LADIES 1
- 06m Lekesha James clipped through over the middle, controlled the ball well and chipped the keeper from the edge of the box, but the slightest defender's touch took it onto the post.
- 22m Tracy Perry collided with a defender, leaving Barnet's Cherelle Brown clean through on goal, level with the post, and six yards out, but her showboat attempt to smack the ball into the back of the net backfired when she hit the opposite post!
- 23m Almost a carbon copy of Lekesha's chance, but up the other end. Tracy got her hand to the ball but was unable to stop Ayla Liran's lob going in. 0-1
- 36m Lekesha cut in from the right and the keeper did well to turn her drive around the post.
- 37m Vicky Dodds first 25 yard free-kick of the day ends up inches over the bar.
- 50m Keisha Ramos rose like a salmon 12 yards out to head home a corner. 1-1
- 77m Vicky Dodds second 25 yard free-kick sails into the keeper's top right corner. 2-1
- 90m Tracy did well to get down to a low drive inside her right post, but could only parry it into the path of an incoming forward, however her recovery block was the save of the day.
Due to the number of players leaving Wimbledon for Barnet last season, this was billed as a bit of grudge match, but there was never any malice. Despite a wobble in the first half, a good all-round team performance, capped by two superb goals was enough to take the points.
